Stage 1 Entry Requirements:

English - IELTS 5.5 (including IELTS 5.0 in reading and writing) – students without an official test score can take the FREE Kaplan Aspect English test

Stage 2 Entry Requirements:
Academic - University Year 1, IB, A-Levels, or other Year 12 equivalencies
English -  IELTS 6.0 - (including IELTS 5.5 in reading and writing) – students without an official test score can take the FREE Kaplan Aspect English test

Hours of tuition per week and Class Sizes:
More teaching support and smaller classes than universities enables students to focus on their own learning skills and personal development before starting Year 2 at university

Stage 1:  22.5 hours tuition per week + minimum of 10 hours self-study
              Maximum 15 students per class
Stage 2:  12 hours tuition per week + minimum of 20 hours self-study
              Maximum 30 students per class

Academic tutorials: 2 X One to One meetings per month
University Placement tutorials: As often as needed

Course structure and content:
We aim to meet the needs of international students who want to study business and management in an international context. We provide a carefully designed balance of specialist input together with English support and study skills classes.

Stage 1:  2 terms of 8 weeks - focus is on increasing IELTS level up to 6.0, and developing university study skills, and quantitative analysis methods
Stage 2: 2 terms of 15 weeks – specialist subjects in management and business. Teaching and study methods change to a university style and pace.

Stage 2 Specialist subjects:

TERM 3 (JAN-APR)

  • Financial Accounting: Introduction to double-entry book-keeping, compilation of balance sheets and  explanation of accounting principles

  • Business Information Systems 1: The role of data, information and knowledge in business operations

  • Introduction to Business and Management: The structure of business, the business environment, managing people, production, international business content and quality management

  • Introduction to Marketing Principals Analyse marketing situations and apply marketing theory

TERM 4 (MAY-AUG)

  • Organisational Behaviour Analysis: An overview of issues relevant to individuals and groups in an organisational context

  • Management Accounting and Financial Management: The techniques for business decision-making and processes of financial and managerial control

  • Introduction to Economics: Micro and macro economics, the economy and the tools of economic analysis

  • Either: Business Information Systems 2: The concepts and practice of modelling and designing business systems

  • Or: Business Law: Introduction to the legal principles used in commerce
