Kaplan Aspect’s Paid Work and Study Program, OPUS, makes learning abroad affordable and gives you the opportunity to gain valuable international work experience! The OPUS Paid Work and Cambridge prep program is developed for students who hold a European Union passport and have a good level of English.

OPUS Paid Work and Cambridge Preparation is designed for students who wish to improve their general English skills and their overall Cambridge scores with a Kaplan Aspect Cambridge FCE preparation program, and get a paid work experience placement in the UK or Ireland. The 9 or 12-week Cambridge preparation course is made up of classes specifically geared to helping students excel at the nationally recognised Cambridge FCE exam.

Program Facts

Length: 9 or 12 weeks of Cambridge FCE preparation tuition followed by a minimum 6 month paid work placement

Recommended ages: 18 - 30

Minimum English level: Intermediate with good spoken English

Application: Entry to the program is subject to an online English test and a telephonic interview

Hours of tuition per week: 15 hours of dedicated Cambridge Exam preparation tuition per week.

Maximum hours of paid work per week: There are no restrictions to working hours of EU students in the UK and Ireland

Start Dates 2008: 9 week: 7 January
                             12 week: 17 March, 15 September

Visa regulations: No working or study visas are required to EU students wishing to work and study in the UK or Ireland

Example employers: Retail stores, cafes, restaurants, hotels (previous experience required)

Earning potential: Most jobs will be paid at the minimum wage applicable in each destination.
UK: (age 18-21) £4.60/hr
        (age 22+) £5.52/hr
Ireland: EUR 8.30/hr
