Internship Programme in Oxford - two months to remember for landmark student
Our congratulations this month go to German student Magdalena Hauber. Magdalena, 19 (pictured below left), is our first Oxford student ever to undertake an internship, and her experience has been extremely successful.
Magdalena has been working at the Oxford branch of the charity Smart CJS for the past two months. Smart CJS helps people affected by substance abuse and also provides support for their friends and family members. The charity has 75 employees and three offices in England.
Magdalena has thoroughly enjoyed her role with Smart CJS in which she supported the staff of the Human Resources Department. Her various tasks included filing documents, answering calls, writing letters and other correspondence, and sorting and distributing the incoming post. She found the overall experience very interesting, saying “I think it’s fantastic that I got the chance to improve my English and gain some work experience, during a two-month internship, at such a great company!”

OPUS Paid Work and Study Programme in Oxford - diverse positions provide excellent experience
Brazilian student Daniel Santana Pires (pictured above right), aged 27, has recently completed his OPUS Paid Work and Study Programme at Kaplan Aspect Oxford.
During his programme, Daniel worked first as a bartender at the Holiday Inn hotel group, during which time he learned how to communicate effectively and deliver high-quality customer service. His position allowed him to greatly improve his listening and pronunciation skills in English.
Towards the end of his programme, Daniel wanted to gain international work experience related to his studies as a biochemist. With the help of Kaplan Aspect, qualified pharmacist Daniel secured a voluntary position at Jenner’s Pharmacy. Since starting there a few weeks ago, he has already made a great impression on his manager. For Daniel, it has been a great hands-on insight into the workings of a pharmacy. At the same time, it has provided him with invaluable English language experience in a specialist health field. He hopes to secure new work opportunities when he returns to Brazil - we wish him well!
